Mimi’s Story

For many years, my greatest joy was raising my three sons and caring for my family. During that season of life, I carried a dream quietly in my heart—a dream of sharing the beauty, flavors, and warm hospitality of Ethiopia with the community I now call home.

That dream became Mimi’s Ethiopian Restaurant.

With a deep love for Ethiopian culture, and with the support of my husband and family, I set out to create more than a restaurant. I wanted to create an experience—a place where guests can gather, celebrate, and enjoy authentic Ethiopian cuisine in an atmosphere of warmth, elegance, and genuine hospitality.

Every dish we serve reflects the traditions I grew up with, prepared with care and respect for Ethiopia’s rich culinary heritage. From our traditional coffee ceremony to our thoughtfully crafted menu, every detail is designed to make each guest feel welcomed, valued, and at home.

Mimi’s Ethiopian Restaurant is a celebration of family, culture, and community. It is the realization of a lifelong dream, and we are honored to share it with Louisville.
